Football Recap: Jashaun Thomas' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Paschal over Chisholm Trail + How To Watch

If Paschal was riding high fresh off their 52-14 takedown of South Hills last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers came up short against the Chisholm Trail Rangers on Friday, falling 42-21. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rangers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Paschal's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jashaun Thomas, who threw for 231 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 65 yards and one touchdown. The Panthers also got help from Truman Shelton, who showed off his sure hands for 103 receiving yards.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Xavier Rodriguez and William Quintana-Rodriguez. Rodriguez rushed for 163 yards and one score while picking up 7.8 yards per carry while Quintana-Rodriguez rushed for 81 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five carries. That's the most rushing yards Quintana-Rodriguez has posted since back in November of 2024.

Having lost for the first time this season, Paschal fell to 4-1. As for Chisholm Trail, they pushed their record up to 3-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Paschal and Chisholm Trail should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Panthers will square off against Polytechnic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (512 vs. 1059). Meanwhile, Chisholm Trail (ranked 404th) will meet North Side (ranked 941st) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
