Basketball Recap: Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators vs. West Florida Baptist Academy Conquerors

The Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 47-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Florida Baptist Academy. Gulf Pointe Latin has not had much luck with the Conquerors recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Gulf Pointe Latin lost, one person who can't be blamed is Holland Hamer. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hamer has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Matthews, who scored seven points along with three steals.

West Florida Baptist Academy found their leader in underclassman Olivia Pearce, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds. Pearce hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 12 straight games. Makenna Enfinger was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with four steals.

Gulf Pointe Latin has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for West Florida Baptist Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-8.

Gulf Pointe Latin will be playing in front of their home fans against the at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Florida (Santa Rosa Christian is ranked 587th, while the Gladiators are ranked 567th). West Florida Baptist Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
