Softball Recap: Highland Gets the Win

Highland had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Arizona College Prep Knights, sneaking past 3-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Hawks also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Kennedie Nelson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Karsyn Norton was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Layla Napoli was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

Arizona College Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Highland has already played their next matchup (against Willow Canyon), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Arizona College Prep, they will be taking part in a tournament against Queen Creek at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
