Basketball Game Preview: Moss Point Tigers vs. Newton County Cougars

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Moss Point Tigers duke it out with the Newton County Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Friday... Moss Point will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Last Friday, Moss Point got the win against Long Beach by a conclusive 34-13. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Bearcats are ranked 201st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Newton County's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 43-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Terry.

Newton County's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Moss Point, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Moss Point couldn't quite finish off Newton County when the teams last played back in February of 2022 and fell 39-37. Can Moss Point avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
