Hilltop's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top against the Chula Vista Spartans by a score of 8-4. The win was some much needed relief for the Lancers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Alexandria Martinez was excellent, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one triple and one RBI. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April. Another player making a difference was Olivia Mertz, who earned two RBI and two runs.
Hilltop's victory bumped their record up to 13-14-1. As for Chula Vista, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.
As of now, neither Hilltop nor Chula Vista have any future games scheduled.
