Basketball Recap: Ashtain Preston Key Part of a Team Effort in Titans Win

On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, the New Faith Christian Academy Titans beat the Salem Seminoles 55-50. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Titans.

New Faith Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashtain Preston, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 20 points and three steals. Preston's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Landen Render was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 16 points and three steals.

New Faith Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Salem, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Faith Christian Academy and Wilson Academy will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. New Faith Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Wilson Academy likes a good challenge. Salem will take on Redan in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
