Baseball Game Preview: St. Joseph Academy Crusaders vs. Ocean View Christian Patriots

The St. Joseph Academy Crusaders will face off against the Ocean View Christian Patriots at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Joseph Academy is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

St. Joseph Academy lost 23-6 to Crawford on Monday.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Ocean View Christian and Bayfront Charter have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Patriots came out on top in a nail-biter against the Sharks, sneaking past 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Patriots have posted against the Sharks since May 12, 2021.

Landen Seiwert made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Seiwert was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Seiwert is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Ocean View Christian got a massive performance out of Tyler Cauley, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Parker Broersma, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.

Ocean View Christian's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for St. Joseph Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

St. Joseph Academy took their win against Ocean View Christian in their previous meeting back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 11-4 score. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
