Softball Recap: Whitney Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Whitney had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Folsom Bulldogs. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly four runs.

Paige Tamblyn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sidney Kleiner, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Grace Sage was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Whitney's record now sits at 18-8. As for Folsom, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Whitney will challenge rival Granite Bay at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Folsom is set to take on their familiar foe Del Oro at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
