Basketball Recap: Calvert Extends Home Winning Streak to Three

If New Riegel wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Calvert, they should've done a better job of containing Gavin Wagner. The Calvert Senecas enjoyed a cozy 56-37 victory over the New Riegel Blue Jackets on Friday thanks in part to Wagner, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played.

Carter Wolph was another key player, putting up seven points and 14 rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds.

Calvert pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for New Riegel, they moved to 8-2 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calvert won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Clyde at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for New Riegel, they will challenge Old Fort at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
