Baseball Recap: George Washington Drops Season-High Score on Kennedy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask George Washington). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Kennedy Commanders a 20-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Commanders recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Alex Sieren looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Ben Zemel and Henry Kuntner did most of the damage at the plate: Zemel went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Kuntner scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Zemel a new career-high. Jonah Rascoff also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

George Washington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kennedy only managed one hit.

George Washington now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Kennedy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

George Washington wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 12-4 defeat against Northfield on the 19th. As for Kennedy, they have also already played their next game, a 14-10 loss against Westminster on the 20th.
