Preview: Paxton Bobcats vs. Florala Wildcats

Two dominant players in Sawyer Adams and Rayshon Coleman are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Paxton Bobcats and the Florala Wildcats will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard on Monday.

In what's become a running theme this season, Paxton gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 58-37 margin over West Florida Baptist Academy. The win was familiar territory for Paxton who now have four in a row.

Noah Morgan was the offensive standout of the matchup as he scored 22 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Collin Stewart was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.

Meanwhile, Florala strolled past Houston County with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 55-37. Given Florala's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while Houston County is ranked 448th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Florala to victory, but perhaps none more so than Christian Greasham, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds. Greasham hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Coleman, who scored 16 points along with six assists and six rebounds.

Paxton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Florala, their victory bumped their record up to 16-5.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Paxton hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 55.4 points per game. It's a different story for Florala, though, as they've been averaging only 57.8 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.

Paxton couldn't quite finish off Florala in their previous matchup on January 5th and fell 64-62. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Coleman, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 11 rebounds. Now that Paxton knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
