Washington Township beats Clearview for their fifth straight win

Recap: Washington Township Minutemen vs. Clearview Pioneers

The Washington Township Minutemen entered their tilt with the Clearview Pioneers with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Washington Township strolled past Clearview with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 38-21. Given Washington Township's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while Clearview is ranked 123rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jared Dzierzgowski looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 147 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. Dzierzgowski is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.

Despite the loss, Clearview still got an impressive performance from Obrian Brown, who rushed for 170 yards and three touchdowns.

Washington Township's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Williamstown and 3-6 Clearview (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 31.9% over those games). As for Clearview, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington Township will take on Atlantic City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Clearview, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hightstown at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hightstown is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
