Basketball Recap: Island Coast's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six

With a playoff win on the line, Island Coast rose to the challenge on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls 48-46. This was a revenge game for the Gators: when they faced off against the Cowboys/Cowgirls back in January, they had to take a 57-50 defeat.

Izaiah Bacchus was nothing short of spectacular: he posted 13 points along with eight boards and five assists. Those five assists gave him a new career-high. Jose Bido was another key player, as he made all 5 shots he took for 11 points and three steals.

Several Cowboys/Cowgirls players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jerrahd Williams, who almost dropped a double-double with nine steals and nine blocks. Williams has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Arrie Davis Jr., who went 7 of 10 to rack up 15 points and six rebounds.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Island Coast, bringing their record for this year to 17-10. As for LaBelle, their loss dropped their record down to 20-6.

Looking ahead, Island Coast will face off against Gibbs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Gibbs will roll in looking for their 17th straight win, something Island Coast surely won't give up without a fight. LaBelle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
