Softball Recap: Wake Forest Continues Road Dominance on Thursday

Wake Forest's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Knightdale Knights a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Jil Livengood made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Nova Pate was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. She also put up three RBI, which were her first of the season. Abbey Lauer was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Wake Forest's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Knightdale, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Wake Forest has already played their next contest, a 9-0 win against Northern Durham on the 18th. As for Knightdale, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rolesville at 5:00 p.m. on the 25th. Rolesville has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.5 runs per game on average), something Knightdale will no doubt try to take advantage of.
