Basketball Recap: Wednesday's Loss Ends Portage's Winning Streak

Portage suffered their closest loss since January 18, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Northern Cambria Colts by a score of 45-42. The Mustangs' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Loss or not, Portage got some senior leadership from Zachary Hodge and Owen Gouse. Hodge went 6 of 11 en route to 12 points and seven rebounds, while Gouse posted 14 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Those 12 points gave Hodge a new career-high.

Portage's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-4. As for Northern Cambria, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
