Basketball Recap: Devin Roberts Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat West Hardin

Sabine Pass proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 52) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the West Hardin Oilers 47-44. The team ran away with 37 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the victory.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sabine Pass to victory, but perhaps none more so than Devin Roberts, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 16 points. Another player making a difference was Daiven Miller, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Sabine Pass smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Sabine Pass has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for West Hardin, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sabine Pass has already played their next contest (against Danbury), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. West Hardin will head out to face off against Deweyville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. West Hardin is facing Deweyville at the right time seeing as Deweyville is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
