Basketball Recap: Woodland Victorious

Woodland was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against First Baptist School on Monday. The Woodland Wolverines put the hurt on the First Baptist School Hurricanes with a sharp 71-48 victory. The Wolverines have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hurricanes, too.

Woodland had a senior duo take command as JaKease Salley dropped a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds and Trayvon Tate went 9 of 12 on his way to 22 points and six rebounds. Salley has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last ten times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Warren, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Woodland's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for First Baptist School, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2.

Woodland will venture away from home to challenge Cane Bay at 8:30 p.m. on December 16th. As for First Baptist School, they will challenge James Island at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
