Montgomery Catholic and Tallassee are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Montgomery Catholic Knights will challenge the Tallassee Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Montgomery Catholic came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Tallassee, falling 9-1. The Knights' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

For Tallassee's part, Brue Milner was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Milner has become a key player for Tallassee: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 6-8-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Cash Gough, who went 2-for-5 with one triple and two RBI.

Milner wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Tallassee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for Tallassee: they were averaging 4.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.

Tallassee has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. Montgomery Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11-1.
