Baseball Recap: Porter-Gaud's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

While Porter-Gaud put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for First Baptist School. The Cyclones were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Hurricanes. That looming 12-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cyclones yet this season.

Sam Teich was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Teich was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Porter-Gaud let Tony Brown and Brooklyn Ellis run wild. Brown scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Ellis scored three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Holden Worrell, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The win (which was Porter-Gaud's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for First Baptist School, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-7-1 record this season.

Porter-Gaud will have a chance to go back-to-back against First Baptist School: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
