Softball Recap: Arlington Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Arlington had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors, sneaking past 10-8. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Peyton Aanstad spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and seven unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grace Strothman and Eliza Andrews did most of the damage at the plate: Strothman went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Andrews went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave Strothman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Peyton Miller, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Arlington's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-10. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Edmonds-Woodway, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-5.

Looking ahead, Arlington will square off against Cascade at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bruins have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.4 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Edmonds-Woodway, they will challenge Shorecrest at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Scots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.46 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
