Basketball Recap: Wednesday's Defeat Ends Newman AAA's Winning Streak

Newman AAA came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 85-61 to Non Varsity Opponent. The Cardinals' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Lucas Morillo and Jalen Harper certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Morillo almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Harper shot 50% from the field on his way to 17 points and three steals. The game was Morillo's eighth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Louis O'Keefe, who posted 12 points.

Even though they lost, Newman AAA smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive contests.

Newman AAA's defeat dropped their record down to 31-9.

As of now, neither they nor Non Varsity Opponent have any future games scheduled.
