Softball Preview: Birmingham Patriots vs. Granada Hills Charter Highlanders        
        
		
            
 Birmingham is 1-9 against Granada Hills Charter since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Wednesday. The Birmingham Patriots will be playing at home against the Granada Hills Charter Highlanders at 3:00  p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
 Birmingham had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 runs), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Chancellors  an   11-0 shutout.
  Rebecca Lozano made a splash while hitting and pitching. She  kept things locked down with   no  earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Lozano has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  pitched less than five  innings in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Lozano was also stellar in the batter's box,  going 2-for-4 with a  home run and four  RBI.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Jasmine Martinez, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-2.
 Meanwhile, Granada Hills Charter waltzed into their contest  on Saturday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They blew past the Mustangs 15-1.
  Valerie Juarez looked comfortable as she  tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   two  hits (she also didn't allow any  walks).
 On the hitting side,  Jocelyn Jimenez was  incredible,  going 3-for-3 with a  home run, three  runs,  and four  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Annabella Ramirez, who  went 1-for-1 with a  home run and two  RBI.
 Birmingham's victory was  their fourth straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 10-3. As for Granada Hills Charter, their win bumped their record up to 18-1.
 Birmingham couldn't quite finish off Granada Hills Charter in their previous matchup  back in April of 2023 and fell  2-0. Can Birmingham avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
