Softball Recap: Hawthorne Hornets vs. Crescent City Raiders

Hawthorne had taken Crescent City down for four straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Hawthorne Hornets came up short against the Crescent City Raiders, falling 26-19. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Sarah Morgan led a balanced group of hitters, scoring four runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Holly Moore, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Hawthorne was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crescent City only posted a batting average of .294.

Hawthorne now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Crescent City, their record now sits at 4-6.

Coming up, Hawthorne will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Bradford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bradford has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.5 runs per game on average), something Hawthorne will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Crescent City, they will be playing at home against Father Lopez at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
