Softball Recap: Yuma Catholic Drops Highest Score of Season Against Seton Catholic

Yuma Catholic made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Seton Catholic, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Yuma Catholic Shamrocks' pitcher stepped up to hand the Seton Catholic Sentinels a 12-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Shamrocks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The result came thanks to Cherish Trujillo's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Autumn Moffatt was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Alondra Cordova, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

The win made it two in a row for Yuma Catholic and bumps their season record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Seton Catholic, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yuma Catholic will challenge Northwest Christian at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Northwest Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.2 runs per game this season. As for Seton Catholic, they will face off against Pusch Ridge Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Seton Catholic's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Pusch Ridge Christian Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
