Basketball Recap: Camden Hills Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Oceanside

On Saturday, Camden Hills faced Oceanside in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Camden Hills Windjammers fell 61-54 to the Oceanside Mariners. The Windjammers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mariners earlier this season, when they won 49-41.

Oceanside was led to victory by Renee Ripley and Aubrianna Hoose. Ripley dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 rebounds, while Hoose went 7 of 16 on her way to 20 points along with six rebounds and five assists. With that strong performance, Ripley is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryley Beaudry, who posted nine points.

Camden Hills' loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Oceanside, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Camden Hills will face off against Nokomis at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oceanside, they will square off against Winslow at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oceanside knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Winslow likes a good challenge.
