Baseball Recap: Ellison Takes a Loss

Ellison was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 28th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 17-13 to the Shoemaker Wolves. Even if the Eagles couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Djimon Pinkney was cooking despite his team's loss, firing off two triples, four RBI, and two runs while going 5-for-5. Braxton Greer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Even though they lost, Ellison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Ellison's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Shoemaker, they now have a winning record of 4-3-1.

Ellison and Shoemaker could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Ellison will face off against Weiss at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday down 451 places (856 vs. 405). Ellison has given up an average of 16.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. Meanwhile, Shoemaker (ranked 523rd) will meet Gatesville (ranked tenth) at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.
