Basketball Game Preview: Phillips Wildcats vs. Lincoln Park Lions

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Phillips Wildcats face off against the Lincoln Park Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday... Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Tuesday, Phillips came up short against Whitney Young and fell 66-56. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Dolphins are ranked 48th).

Meanwhile, Lincoln Park entered their tilt with Westinghouse on Tuesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Warriors 75-40. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Lincoln Park is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Phillips, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.

Phillips didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Lincoln Park when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 79-74 victory. Will Phillips repeat their success, or does Lincoln Park have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
