League recap: Norwood, Conway tied at the top

Summit league recap: 3/27/13

Conway and Norwood are tied atop the standings of Summit, leaving first place open for the taking.

The league's top pitcher this week was the Bears' Josh Henderson. He racked up five strike outs this week.

Seymour's pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only seven hits and five walks, both of which led the league.

Conway's Ron Wellman was locked in this week, and led the league with a .444 average (4-for-9) over that span. His average for the season stands at .353, which ranks seventh in the league. Wellman has totaled six hits this season.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Bobby Sturdefant, who turned in six Ks for the Tigers. With 12 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks second in the league.



Sturdefant drove in four runners on Tuesday in Seymour's 7-0 victory over Lakeland. He went 2-for-3 and scored one run.

Austin Gavin threw a shutout as he led the Tigers to victory over the Vikings, 7-0, on Tuesday.
