Football Recap: Cuba Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Cuba's offense. They took a blow against the St. Pius X Lancers on Friday, falling 70-0. The Wildcats have struggled against the Lancers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

It was another big night for Cody Shaver, who rushed for 209 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries for St. Pius X. Shaver is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 152 every time he's taken the field this season. Evan Eckrich was another key player, throwing for 171 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 87.5% of his passes.

Cuba's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for St. Pius X, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-3.

Coming up, Cuba will look to defend their home field on Friday against St. Vincent at 7:00 p.m. As for St. Pius X, they are taking a road trip to face off against Miller Career Academy/Vashon/Sumner at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers will be up against the Phoenix's rather soft defense (which has allowed 33.67 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
