            Softball Recap: Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls vs. Aztec Tigers        
        
		
        
        
            The third road  contest was the charm for Carlsbad, as they earned their first away  victory of the season. They walked away with  an   8-5  win over the Aztec Tigers  on Friday. Eight seems to be a good number for the Cavemen/Cavegirls as the  squad scooped up a  victory with the same number of  runs in their previous game.

 Katrina Ortega made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned  (and three unearned) runs off   six  hits. Ortega was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while going 3-for-4. Those  three  hits gave  her a new career-high.
 In other batting news,  Allyson Madrid was  incredible,  going 1-for-3 with one  home run, one  stolen base,  and two  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Brooklyn Cook, who  went 3-for-4 with one  triple, one  run,  and one  RBI.
 Carlsbad  lost a few balls and  finished the game with two  home runs. They are  a perfect 4-0 when  they post two or more  home runs.
Carlsbad picked up their first road  win, bumping their record up to 6-4. As for Aztec, they dropped their record down to 5-10 with the  loss, which was their fifth straight  at home.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carlsbad will have some time to savor their  victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Artesia at 4:30  p.m.  on April 7. As for Aztec,  a feisty cat fight will be fought as Aztec Tigers  take on  Bloomfield Bobcats at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
