Recap: West Greene Buffaloes vs. Unaka Rangers
The West Greene Buffaloes scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. Everything went their way against Unaka as West Greene made off with a 50-30 victory. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory West Greene has managed all season.
Despite the loss, Unaka saw an underclassman step up: Katlyn Dugger scored nine points along with three steals. Dugger also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Keyona Hague, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for West Greene and bumps their season record up to 4-5. As for Unaka, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Greene will square off against Gibbs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Unaka will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Happy Valley at 6:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Happy Valley is on a three-game streak of home losses, Unaka a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
