Basketball Recap: Desert Vista Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Desert Vista walked away with it. They took down the Perry Pumas 50-31 on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 71-67 back in December of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Desert Vista to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trinity Jones, who posted 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Zaire 'Cherri' Hatter was another key player, going 5-for-11 on her way to 12 points in addition to six boards and three blocks.

The win was the third in a row for Desert Vista, bringing their record for this year to 14-12. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to offensive rebounds: they averaged an imposing 12.67 offensive boards in those games compared to only 6.52 in the others. As for Perry, their loss dropped their record down to 14-12.

Desert Vista has already played their next contest, a 42-40 victory against Gilbert on the 20th. As for Perry, they will welcome Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on February 27th. Liberty is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season.
