Football Game Preview: Piedmont Panthers vs. Weddington Warriors + How To Watch

Piedmont is 0-8 against Weddington since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Panthers will face off against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Piedmont has given up an average of 27.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Piedmont is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Sun Valley on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Panthers had to suffer through a 52-14 loss at the hands of the Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while the Spartans are ranked 27th).

Although Piedmont took the loss, they still got scores from Jack Blakeslee and Jayden Pagan.

Meanwhile, Weddington came tearing into Friday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.2 points), and they left with even more momentum. They breezed past the Pirates to the tune of 42-0. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won seven contests by 21 points or more so far this season.

Piedmont's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Weddington, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.

Piedmont was dealt a bruising 55-0 defeat at the hands of Weddington in their previous meeting back in September of 2022. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
