Football Recap: Smyrna Triumphs

If Hendersonville wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Smyrna, they should've done a better job of containing RJ Williams. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Commandos by a score of 31-20 on Friday thanks in part to Williams, who rushed for 105 yards and one score on only seven carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 59 yards.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Smyrna, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Ze McCarver, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

The victory got Smyrna back to even at 1-1. As for Hendersonville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smyrna will look to takes advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Oakland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Bulldogs their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Hendersonville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Page at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
