Basketball Recap: South Wake Skates Past Summit Christian Academy with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Chatham HomeSchool, South Wake was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 82-42 win over the Summit Christian Academy Eagles. The Sabres have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Lawson Jurgens was nothing short of spectacular: he shot 55% from the field on his way to 19 points in addition to six assists and six boards. That's the most assists he has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Eli Jones, who earned ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

South Wake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Summit Christian Academy had strong showings from Courtland Reiter, who went 7-for-17 to rack up 15 points and six boards, and Cole Miller, who had nine points and six rebounds.

South Wake is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-9 record this season. Summit Christian Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-14 record this season.

South Wake didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 75-51 victory against Cumberland Christian Home Educators on the 5th. As for Summit Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 67-48 defeat against Providence Athletic Club on the 5th.
