Volleyball Recap: East Wake Academy Eagles vs. Wake Prep Academy Guardians

After flying high against Raleigh Charter last Thursday, East Wake Academy came back down to earth. The East Wake Academy Eagles fell just short of the Wake Prep Academy Guardians by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Guardians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played two weeks ago.

East Wake Academy actually scored more points across those five sets (102-96), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 15-25, 25-22, 25-17, 16-25, 15-13.

East Wake Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Peyton Robertson, who had 18 digs and 17 kills. Robertson is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in the last 17 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Snead, who had 24 digs and two kills.

Kennedy Richmond had an outrageously good game for Wake Prep Academy as she had three digs and two aces. Another player making a difference was Zoe Johnian, who had 20 digs.

East Wake Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 17-4. As for Wake Prep Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-10.

East Wake Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Wake Prep Academy has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Falls Lake on the 15th.
