Preview: Pleasant Grove Eagles vs. Atwater Falcons
The Pleasant Grove Eagles and the Atwater Falcons will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Pleasant Grove focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday.
Pleasant Grove pushed their score all the way to 58, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 62-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cordova.
Despite the loss, Pleasant Grove got a solid performance out of Elijah Sykes, who scored 32 points along with six assists. The matchup was Sykes' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julien Ocampo, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, the third road matchup was the charm for Atwater, as they earned their first road win of the season. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past San Luis Obispo 58-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Pleasant Grove has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Atwater, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
