Softball Recap: Century Sets Scoring Season-High Against Cobden

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Century). They blew past the Cobden Appleknockers 17-6 on Tuesday. The Centurions haven't had any issues with the Appleknockers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Jaylee Vanmeter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Hannah Sauerbrunn was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Jaicey Edwards, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Century kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cobden only managed six hits.

The victory got Century back to even at 5-5. As for Cobden, their loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-3.

Coincidentally, Century and Cobden will both be playing Egyptian the next time they take the field. The Appleknockers will host the Pharaohs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Centurions will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
