Basketball Recap: Cottage Comes Up Short

After flying high against Cumberland Academy of Georgia on Wednesday, Cottage came back down to earth. The Cougars took a 48-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cross Keys Phoenix on Friday. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 49-37 to the Phoenix when the teams met back in November of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Cottage still got an impressive performance from Maxwell Lagan, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards. The matchup was Lagan's ninth in a row with at least 15 points.

Cottage's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cottage will face off against William & Reed Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cross Keys, they will challenge Academe of the Oaks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
