Softball Recap: Antwerp Takes a Loss

Antwerp lost against Paulding back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Archers fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 6-5. The Archers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Elle Clem was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Clem wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Haydyn Lengacher, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Antwerp's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Paulding, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Antwerp will host Ottoville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Big Green have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.64 runs per game on average), something the Archers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Paulding, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lincolnview at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
