The Ida Baker Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Palmetto Ridge Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Having struggled with six defeats in a row dating back to last season, Ida Baker turned things around against Cypress Lake on Tuesday. They never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Meanwhile, the third road matchup was the charm for Palmetto Ridge, as they earned their first road win of the season. Everything went their way against Golden Gate on Friday as Palmetto Ridge made off with a 15-0 win. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Bears this season.
Tessa Delashmet made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Karsyn Walters, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Anido, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Palmetto Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .727. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Palmetto Ridge's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games. As for Ida Baker, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Ida Baker came up short against Palmetto Ridge in their previous meeting back in February, falling 10-5. Can Ida Baker avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
