Baseball Recap: Mt. Gilead's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Northmor, Mt. Gilead was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Shekinah Christian Flames. The win was some much needed relief for the Indians as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Hayden Somerlot, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He has become a key player for Mt. Gilead: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-6 otherwise. Wyatt Young also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Mt. Gilead's victory bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Shekinah Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Coming up, Mt. Gilead will welcome Fredericktown at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Shekinah Christian, they will take on Delaware Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.75 runs per game on average), something the Flames will no doubt try to take advantage of.
