Baseball Game Preview: Arizona Lutheran Academy Coyotes vs. Tonopah Valley Phoenix

Arizona Lutheran Academy and Tonopah Valley are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Coyotes will venture away from home to face off against the Phoenix at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Arizona Lutheran Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Arizona Lutheran Academy will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Tempe Prep, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Coyotes were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Knights on Thursday. Considering the Coyotes have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Rafael Guerrero was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. He has become a key player for Arizona Lutheran Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 6-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Colton Pennington, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Arizona Lutheran Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Tonopah Valley fell victim to Yuma Catholic and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 15-0 to the Shamrocks. The Phoenix have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tonopah Valley now has a losing record of 10-11-1. As for Arizona Lutheran Academy, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-11.

Arizona Lutheran Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Tonopah Valley in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 7-2. Will the Coyotes repeat their success, or do the Phoenix have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
