Preview: Moreau Catholic Mariners vs. Bishop O'Dowd Dragons
The Moreau Catholic Mariners will be playing at home against the Bishop O'Dowd Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Moreau Catholic will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Moreau Catholic at home against Castro Valley as the squad secured a 49-13 victory. Given Moreau Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 281st, while Castro Valley is ranked 600th), the result wasn't exactly an upset.
Moreau Catholic's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Bryant, who rushed for 118 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, and also caught a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Peyton Collins, who rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Meanwhile, Bishop O'Dowd beat Tennyson 17-6 on Friday.
The critical scores for Bishop O'Dowd came from Colton Downing and Owen Merritt.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 3-3.
Moreau Catholic was taken down by Bishop O'Dowd 49-13 in their previous matchup back in October of 2021. Thankfully for Moreau Catholic, Matt White (who rushed for 188 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 35 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
