Recap: Charles J. Colgan Sharks vs. New Town

If the Charles J. Colgan Sharks were feeling good off their 56-18 takedown of the Brandywine Heights Area Bullets on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Charles J. Colgan took a 66-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of New Town. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (56), Charles J. Colgan still had to take the loss.

Defeat or not, Charles J. Colgan got some senior leadership from Brianna Long who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds and Amaya Thrash who scored 16 points. Long scored a full 37.7% of Charles J. Colgan's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Bea Quiroz, who scored nine points.

Even though they lost, Charles J. Colgan were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

New Town was led to victory by Nialah Mingo and Tarshay Bell. Mingo scored 18 points, while Bell scored 21 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mingo has scored at least 25% of New Town's points. Nasia Hart was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

Charles J. Colgan's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for New Town, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Charles J. Colgan and Woodbridge will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 14th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Woodbridge has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 187 points over their last three games. As for New Town, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Kenwood at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully Kenwood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
