Baseball Recap: American Fork Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

American Fork barely beat Skyridge the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cavemen blew past the Falcons 14-4 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Cavemen, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Cache Poulson and Harry Gardner did most of the damage at the plate: Poulson went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Gardner went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave Gardner a new career-high. CJ Mascaro was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: American Fork kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.

American Fork's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Skyridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. American Fork will challenge Westlake at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cavemen are facing the Thunder at the right time seeing as the Thunder are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Skyridge, they will face off against Lehi at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
