Baseball Preview: Sweetwater Wildcats vs. Maryville Christian Eagles
The Sweetwater Wildcats will face off against the Maryville Christian Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Sweetwater is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.
Sweetwater proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by eight) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Alcoa, sneaking past 7-5.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Maryville Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over Concord Christian on Friday. While the Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Noah Seiler made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
