Softball Recap: Wayne County Takes a Loss

Wayne County suffered their biggest loss since March 21st on Monday. They came up short against the Southwestern Warriors, falling 13-6. The Cardinals were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Wayne County's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-6. As for Southwestern, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Wayne County will be playing in front of their home fans against Pickett County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwestern will be paying especially close attention to the Cardinals' matchup: after the Cardinals face off against the Bobcats, they'll take on Southwestern again at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
