Softball Recap: Ellsworth's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

It was a good run, but Ellsworth unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grantsburg Pirates. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 9-2 to the Pirates when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Karli Gutting spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, Delaney Johnson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.

Ellsworth's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Grantsburg, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4.

Coming up, Ellsworth will venture away from home to square off against Prescott at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Grantsburg, they will be playing at home against Webster/Siren at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
