Basketball Recap: Hanford West Takes a Loss

Hanford West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 79-55 to the Kerman Lions. The contest was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly the Huskies struggled afterwards.

Despite the loss, Hanford West still got an impressive performance from Donnovan Smith, who posted 25 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. That was a full 45.5% of Hanford West's points, marking the 20th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Daniel Bibioff was his usual excellent self, going 20 for 38 to rack up 53 points in addition to five boards and five steals for Kerman. Bibioff's evening made it 14 games in a row in which he has scored at least 29 points. Von Bibioff was another key player, putting up nine points and six steals.

Hanford West's loss dropped their record down to 2-23. As for Kerman, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 14-11 record this season.

Looking ahead, Hanford West will head out to challenge Sierra Pacific at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sierra Pacific is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.8 points per game this season. As for Kerman, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Lions duke it out with the Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Kerman's favor as the squad sits on ten straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Washington Union has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road.
